Vehicles in Germany's Town Found Smeared with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police reported they were contacted by a man who noticed a vehicle in Hanau smeared with red-colored fluid

Around fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.

Vehicles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.

Law enforcement state they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.

The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Officers then located numerous other smeared cars and house walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials state initial examinations indicate the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; investigators are currently not aware of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they commented.

Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the community for information.

An important official stated the incident left him speechless and needed to be addressed quickly.

"This act affects the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on a platform, referring to the murder of nine people by a assailant aiming at people of migrant background in February 2020.
