It's difficult for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the record chasers, are the only things left for a side that has achieved everything.

The fact it required until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowlers that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their batters to maintain a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving a platform to create her newest gem.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her nation couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India momentarily interrupted the successful run.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not fall short again.

If this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort can be debated.

Some will argue the case for the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was considerably tougher to see coming.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this knock came after six matches in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it's been a disappointing period because it seemed my form was missing completely," stated Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you just lock into the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has always been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and after that the batsman was on her way.

"A chance to take the field and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, somewhat inspired me," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

Once she was removed the team required another 66 at run per delivery - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I'm pleased we have the belief to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we believe we can do it."

That comment will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this tournament need to hear.

In recent days a feeling they will win from any position has become more firm - this success following win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they left last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at an important competition.

So great is her will, she later said she wanted to have participated with the discomfort.

Yet even as she later admitted those physical issues have delayed consideration of ending her career, this championship is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as captain.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
