The buzz about the recent awards show was significant, particularly after presenter Geoff Keighley posted an enigmatic image of a desert monolith. The question has been revealed. The acclaimed developer is developing a brand-new Divinity game.
Titled simply Divinity, the game was presented with a daring trailer featuring intense imagery, from a burning man to scenes of revelry and the very unleashing of hell.
A Different Direction
Anyone anticipating Divinity Original Sin 3, this is not that. Larian stated ahead of time that a third Original Sin game to its beloved RPGs is not currently in development.
Nevertheless, the developer described this new Divinity as a next chapter of the main series. This distinction suggests that the team might be designing a real-time experience as opposed to another tactical title. At this moment, we can only guess, as only a teaser video is available.
A Pillar of Modern RPGs
The Divinity series is universally respected and it's fair to claim it kicked off the contemporary revival of deep computer role-playing games. These games are known for intricate stories, branching plots, and flexible progression—elements that later were perfected in games like Baldur's Gate 3.
While its universe is classic fantasy, what makes Divinity apart is the unprecedented level of trust granted to the player.
In contrast to modern RPGs have simplified options, Divinity is full of specialized paths that are viable if you're playing as a particular class or origin with a specific history of choices.
The series is also wonderfully flexible, letting players to improvise both in story and combat. Virtually all objectives can be completed in multiple ways, often in unexpected fashion.
- You might find an answer because you heeded something a non-human character said.
- Or, you could defeat a foe by teleporting a glob of lava in a unorthodox way.
More to Come
